World Environment Day 2025 at Our College: Planting Seeds of Change ππΏ
World Environment Day is more than just a date on the calendar—it's a call to action, a reminder that we all share the duty of protecting and preserving the Earth. This year, Baselios Marthoma Mathews II College of Teacher Education, Kottarakkara, came alive with green energy as the Departments of Physical Science and Natural Science spearheaded a vibrant celebration filled with learning and environmental action.
The highlight of the day was a campus-wide sapling planting drive, where students and faculty joined hands to plant hope—one tree at a time. Each sapling symbolized our shared promise to nurture the Earth and instill environmental values in the teachers of tomorrow.
As the saying goes,
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."
Our initiative embodied this wisdom, transforming awareness into action and fostering a deeper connection with nature. With every tree planted, we took a step closer to building a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable campus—and world.
Challenging Minds: Eco-Puzzles and Quiz
Following the plantation, participants engaged in an environment-themed puzzle game, solving creative riddles about biodiversity and conservation. The activity sparked lively discussions about pressing ecological issues.
The excitement continued with a competitive quiz, where teams tested their knowledge on topics ranging from climate change to sustainable practices. The friendly competition made learning about the environment both fun and memorable.
Taking the Pledge
The event concluded with a solemn pledge ceremony, where we committed to:
Reducing single-use plastics
Conserving water and energy
Practicing waste segregation
Encouraging environmental awareness in our communities
Every Action Counts
Our World Environment Day celebration proved that small steps can lead to big changes. By planting trees, solving puzzles, and testing our knowledge, we renewed our dedication to protecting the planet.
As future educators, we have the power to inspire generations to live sustainably. Let's carry this green momentum forward and make every day an opportunity to care for our Earth!
