Orientation Session by Employment Exchange – A Step Toward Career Readiness


The day commenced with an insightful Orientation Class conducted by the Employment Exchange, Government of Kerala. Scheduled from 11 AM to 12 PM as per our regular timetable, the session took place during the second hour and aimed to enhance our understanding of career planning and employment prospects.

Our principal inaugurated the session with an encouraging welcome address, highlighting the critical role of career awareness and skill development in today’s rapidly evolving job market. His words set a thoughtful tone for the program that followed.

The resource person from the Employment Exchange began by offering a broad overview of current employment trends, government initiatives, and the many opportunities available for students across different sectors. The session delved into essential topics such as career guidance, effective job-hunting strategies, and the significance of building both technical and soft skills to stay competitive.

What truly stood out was the interactive nature of the session. Through engaging games and group activities, the speaker made the learning experience both practical and enjoyable. These activities not only reinforced key ideas but also encouraged active participation and collaboration among students.

We were also introduced to various government job portals and employment schemes specifically designed to support young aspirants entering the workforce. By the end of the session, students walked away with valuable resources, practical knowledge, and a renewed sense of direction for their professional journeys.

Overall, the orientation was a well-organized and meaningful initiative that helped bridge the gap between academic learning and career readiness. It served as a timely reminder of the importance of planning for the future and making informed decisions about our career paths.

A VISIT TO OLD AGE HOME  On 6th September 2024, we had an opportunity to visit an old - age home a place that holds an immense amount of experiences and stories waiting to be shared. We visited "Sanketham" located at Kalayapuram in Kollam district. Ashraya was started on 7th April 1994. More than thousand people are being taken care of at different homes of Ashraya by a dedicated team led by Kalayapuram Jose, the Founder and General Secretary of Ashraya. Ashraya now has seven rehabilitation units all over the state of Kerala.  We had the opportunity to interact with the residents. each person I spoke to have a unique story to tell - stories of their youth, their families, and the experiences that shaped them to who they are today.
