DAY 5

❤A Glimpse of Delhi and the Journey Home

Our fifth and final day began with our arrival in Delhi in the early hours of the morning. After freshening up and having breakfast, we set out to explore the capital city—an exciting conclusion to our week-long educational tour. The day’s plan included visits to two of Delhi’s most iconic sites: India Gate, a solemn war memorial, and Qutub Minar, one of the tallest and oldest stone towers in India.

However, like many experiences in a city as dynamic as Delhi, our plans had to adapt. Heavy traffic delays, a daily reality for Delhiites, prevented us from reaching India Gate. Although this was slightly disappointing, it offered us an authentic look into urban life in a metropolitan hub—full of movement, unpredictability, and energy. We reflected on how a city’s rhythm can shape not just travel plans but lifestyles, too.

QUTUB MINAR

Thankfully, we were able to visit the Qutub Minar, where even a short visit was enough to leave a lasting impression. The towering monument, steeped in centuries of history, stood proudly as a symbol of architectural brilliance from the Delhi Sultanate era. Walking through its grounds and gazing up at its ornate carvings allowed us to step into history and appreciate the legacy of India's rich cultural past.

Post our heritage visit, we made our way to Sarojini Nagar Market, arriving around 2:00 PM. On the way, a vegetarian lunch was served on the bus. The market offered a completely different kind of experience—bustling, colorful, and full of life. Exploring the stalls, bargaining with shopkeepers, and soaking in the urban buzz gave us insight into Delhi’s thriving street market culture. For many, it was a fun and lively way to unwind and wrap up the journey with a bit of shopping and laughter.

As evening approached, we made our way to the railway station, ready to begin our journey back home. While our bodies were a little tired, our minds were full—enriched with new knowledge, unforgettable experiences, and the friendships that had grown stronger with each passing day.

We arrived at Kollam Railway Station at 8:00 PM on March 20th, where goodbyes were exchanged and final photos taken. The tour had come to an end, but what remained were the lasting memories of the places we visited, the lessons we learned, and the bonds we formed along the way. It wasn’t just a trip—it was a journey of discovery, connection, and growth.
