Celebrating Strength and Spirit: Sports Day 2025
On Tuesday, February 25, our college hosted its much-anticipated Sports Day as part of the B.Ed curriculum. Held at the college ground, the day was a celebration of physical strength, team spirit, and healthy competition. The event beautifully combined the collaborative nature of team sports with the individual challenges of athletic contests, reflecting our semester-wise focus—team games in the first and athletics in the second.
The day kicked off at 9 AM with an impressive march past, led by the captains of the Red, Blue, and Green houses. Each team proudly carried their house flag, showcasing unity, discipline, and coordination. Our principal opened the program with a motivational speech, setting the tone for a day of spirited performance and camaraderie. We were honored by the presence of Fr. M. Jacob as the chief guest, who spoke about the value of sports in building character and discipline. He officially inaugurated the event with a symbolic shot put throw, which energized the entire gathering.
The field events began soon after and included a range of activities like 100m, 200m, and 400m races, relay race, standing long jump, throwball, shot put, discus, javelin, and long jump. I personally took part in throwball, shot put, and standing long jump, and was thrilled to win second place in throwball. The victory was even sweeter when our house claimed the overall championship, thanks to consistent performances across events. The cheering from housemates created an electric and supportive atmosphere throughout the day.
Aside from participating, I also had the chance to contribute by writing certificates for the winners—a small but fulfilling role, especially during the closing ceremony, where these certificates were proudly awarded. The smooth conduct of the day was ensured by dedicated teams handling refreshments and first aid, making sure all participants were comfortable and cared for.
By 1:30 PM, the events came to a successful close, followed by the prize distribution ceremony. David anchored the ceremony with clarity and confidence, while the union chairman delivered a warm welcome address. The principal and Nisha Ma’am handed out the certificates, and our physical education teacher, Lal Sir, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating everyone’s contributions.
This Sports Day was a truly memorable experience for me. It gave me a platform to challenge myself, contribute behind the scenes, and be part of a collective celebration of talent and effort. More than just medals and victories, the day was about team spirit, perseverance, and shared joy—qualities that will stay with us far beyond the college grounds.
