DEMONSTRATION CLASS (CRITICISM)
As part of our B.Ed curriculum, we had the enriching experience of attending a model criticism class on Monday, February 24. This session, led by our seniors, provided us with a practical glimpse into real classroom dynamics and effective pedagogical techniques. It was not only educational but also deeply inspiring.
The day began with an optional demonstration session during the first three hours, where we observed activity-based lessons for the first semester. Three senior students from the Mathematics Department took the lead in conducting these sessions:
Ansu Alexander (10:00 am – 10:40 am) skillfully utilized audiovisual aids and well-designed charts to explain the lesson content with clarity and enthusiasm.
Anujamol R. (10:40 am – 11:20 am) brought a fun and interactive dimension to teaching through games and quizzes, which kept the students actively engaged.
Akhila Surendran (11:20 am – 12:00 pm) creatively employed activity cards to reinforce concepts, showcasing excellent lesson planning and execution.
Their presentations reflected thorough preparation, creativity, and confidence. The variety of teaching aids and strategies used made the sessions both enjoyable and educational. As observers, we were able to focus fully on analyzing their techniques, classroom management, and interaction styles—an invaluable exercise in learning by example.
Overall, the day was a meaningful blend of theory and practice. Observing our seniors helped us better understand how to plan lessons effectively, use teaching aids creatively, and maintain classroom engagement. It was an experience that will undoubtedly influence our growth as future educators.
