CRITICISM SESSION DAY 1

A DAY OF INSIGHT AND LEARNING(27/02/2025)

As part of our B.Ed curriculum, we have regular criticism on semester 1&2  to improve our teaching skills and understanding of classroom dynamics. The first day of the criticism session for semester 1 was held on Thursday, 27th February 2025.

The day began at 10:00 AM with a English class conducted by Anuja H Babu. I had to act as a student for the criticism class from 10:00 AM to 11:40 AM. The class was well-structured and interactive, with meaningful teacher-pupil and pupil-pupil interactions that enhanced the learning experience. The post-class criticism session from 10:40 to 10:50 AM allowed for constructive feedback on the teaching methods used and the overall engagement of the students.

The second hour, from 10:50 to 11:30 AM, was conducted by Anju S Prasad, from the English department. Her teaching style was clear and engaging, encouraging active participation from the students. The class was well-paced, and students were able to follow the lesson with ease.

After the break, we had the opportunity to observe classes conducted by students from our Mathematics department. The first class, from 11:50 AM to 12:30 PM, was conducted by Abhijith, who presented the topic confidently and maintained a good connection with the students. His explanations were straightforward and easy to follow, making it easier for students to understand the concepts. The next session, from 12:40 PM to 1:20 PM, was handled by Albin, whose approach was systematic and organized. He demonstrated strong subject knowledge and delivered the lesson with clarity.

As an observer, I found the day highly insightful. Each class showcased different teaching styles and strategies, highlighting the strengths and areas for improvement for each teacher. The criticism sessions were particularly valuable, offering a platform for reflective discussion and growth. The variety of teaching methods and student engagement techniques used by the teachers made the sessions not only informative but also motivating.

This day reinforced the importance of observation and feedback in teacher training. The experience helped me understand the significance of effective communication, structured lesson planning, and classroom interaction in improving student learning. It was a day filled with learning, reflection, and inspiration—an experience that will undoubtedly contribute to my growth as a future educator.
