ONAM CELEBRATION 2024

Our Onam celebration took place on the 12th of September and was a day filled with joy, excitement, and a variety of engaging activities. It brought everyone together in the true spirit of the festival, creating wonderful memories for all.

Onam is one of the most significant harvest festivals celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala. It commemorates the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali, whose reign is often described as a golden era marked by peace, prosperity, and equality. The festival is observed with grandeur and joy, featuring vibrant floral arrangements called Pookalams, the traditional Onam feast known as Onam Sadhya, thrilling tug-of-war competitions (Vadamvali), and graceful Thiruvathira dances. These customs and traditions reflect the rich cultural heritage and communal harmony that Onam embodies.

In our college, the Onam celebrations were beautifully organized by our seniors. All the students and teachers participated, dressed in traditional attire, adding to the festive spirit. The event was truly impressive and served as a heartfelt reminder of our rich cultural heritage.

The day was filled with traditional games, vibrant dances, a spirited Vadamvali (tug-of-war), and the much-anticipated grand feast, Onam Sadhya. A stunning Pookalam (floral decoration) was collaboratively created by both seniors and juniors, symbolizing unity and creativity. To cherish the memories, we captured some special moments that will remain close to our hearts. The celebration not only highlighted our traditions but also strengthened the bond of unity and festivity among everyone present.
