  ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATION DAY LUMINARIES On 27th September 2024, our association programs commenced with a vibrant event organized by the English Department. The program was inaugurated by our principal, Dr. Riju John, with the esteemed presence of the Head of the Department, Asst. Prof. Shijini Jose. Rose Johnson seamlessly coordinated the event, which began with a heartfelt prayer by Muhsina. A highlight of the program was the unveiling of the department's logo, aptly named " LUMINARIES, " by the principal, marking a proud moment for the department.

ONAM CELEBRATION 2024 Our Onam celebration took place on the 12th of September and was a day filled with joy, excitement, and a variety of engaging activities. It brought everyone together in the true spirit of the festival, creating wonderful memories for all . Onam is one of the most significant harvest festivals celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala. It commemorates the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali, whose reign is often described as a golden era marked by peace, prosperity, and equality. The festival is observed with grandeur and joy, featuring vibrant floral arrangements called Pookalams, the traditional Onam feast known as Onam Sadhya, thrilling tug-of-war competitions (Vadamvali), and graceful Thiruvathira dances. SUBJECT ASSOCIATION INAGURATION DAY   On 10th September 2024, we, first year students of Baselious Marthoma Mathews II College, Kottarakkara, proudly inaugurated the subject association. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. C. Unnikrishnan, Rtd. Principal, DB College Shasthamcotta, who shared inspiring thoughts about the future of education and the role of associations in developing academic and social development. A VISIT TO OLD AGE HOME  On 6th September 2024, we had an opportunity to visit an old - age home a place that holds an immense amount of experiences and stories waiting to be shared. We visited "Sanketham" located at Kalayapuram in Kollam district. Ashraya was started on 7th April 1994. More than thousand people are being taken care of at different homes of Ashraya by a dedicated team led by Kalayapuram Jose, the Founder and General Secretary of Ashraya. Ashraya now has seven rehabilitation units all over the state of Kerala.  We had the opportunity to interact with the residents. each person I spoke to have a unique story to tell - stories of their youth, their families, and the experiences that shaped them to who they are today.

MONUMENT VISIT VISIT TO VELUTHAMBI DALAWA MUSEUM A T MANNADI Museum to the Veluthampi Dalawa at mannadi is the memorial of the freedom fighter. Veluthampi Dalwa who was the minister of Bala Rama Varma Maharja of the erst while Travancore kingdom. The museum was part of the veluthampi Dalwa memorial project launched in 1994. The memorial has been designed in such a way as to inform the posterity about the heroic of veluthampi, who made the supreme sacrifice for his motherland against British Veluthampi had spent his last days at mannadi where he had ended his life to avoid being humiliated by the British after leading a rebellion against them. The memorial is set up in 1.27 acres, A statue of veluthampi was erected here three years ago an open air auditorium too was set up. WORKSHOP : BLOG CREATION Today, September 3, 2024, as a part of practical for EDU03, we had a workshop on 'How to create a blog id?' and 'How to post a blog?'. The event was led by Harilal Sir, who is an expert in this field. It lasted for 5 hours and covered everything about blog creation. The workshop started with a warm welcoming from our principal, Riju John.  In class, we learned how to choose a platform, design our blogs, and start crafting content. We explored a new platform called Blogger and we learned how to set up an account and to customize our blog's appearance. The instructor provided clear guidance, and by the end of the session, I learned how to create and how to post a blog. I'm excited to continue building on what I have learned and look forward to updating my blog in the near future.
